ALOE VERA AND ITS NATURAL SKIN CARE AND HEALTH BENEFITS  by

 Chris Robertson
4/8/2008 at 12:39
Aloe vera plants, particularly aloe barbadensis miller plants, have been used for centuries to help burns, cuts, and other skin ailments. Perhaps your grandparents always had one of these unique, cactus-like plants nearby, just in case of an emergency. If someone got a cut or burn, they would break an aloe leaf apart to extract gel from inside the leaf. The aloe gel inside the leaf is used as a natural healing salve.

With the onset of commercialism and the recent boom in all-natural products, aloe has become the ingredient of choice in many skin care and health products. Commercial aloe products include everything from creams to lotions to nutritional supplements in pill or drink form. The products often combine aloe gel with other ingredients to enhance the gel’s natural healing components. For example, an aloe-based Hawaiian product, called AhVahleen, combines aloe with some natural extracts taken from organic honey and a Hawaiian Kalo herbal plant.

Natural Aloe-Based Solutions for Skin Care and Health

Aloe gel, especially when combined with other natural ingredients, can greatly enhance the skin and its ability to replenish skin cells. As skin cells die, new skin cells must replace the old to promote healthy skin. This also slows the aging process and helps keep the skin moist and beautiful. Aloe creams and gels on the market can help enhance this process. There are also creams and gels to help with itching, burns, cuts, psoriasis, shingles, and other skin conditions.

Aloe vera gel is also known to have antiviral, antibacterial, ...

SIMPLE RULES FOR ACQUIRING HEALTHY SKIN  by

 Louise Forrest
4/8/2008 at 12:39
Our Western society seems rather obsessed with the idea of the perpetual appearance of youth no matter how old one becomes. Pick up any women’s magazine (men’s magazines don’t seem to have this attribute) and you will find a multitude of skin products being advertised; all with the goal of keeping you looking younger than you are.

So, what is a woman to do? Buy every product that makes a great case for their product and hope for the best while her husband turns grey and wrinkled and "distinguished looking"? Not a chance.

There are some very basic rules to staying healthy and vibrant looking. The number one rule is that if you actually are healthy and vibrant you will look it even if you have age appropriate wrinkles. Skin must be kept moist and healthy in order to look good. This is where the beauty products come in. A good moisturizer is an essential tool in building healthy skin.

Most women feel they need to try different products before they find one they really like and that works well for them. Sometimes a day moisturizer as well as a night moisturizer work best. The day cream is lighter and easier to wear with makeup while the night moisturizer is heavier and can re-invigorate skin while you sleep. Most women also feel the need to try new products sometimes.

There is absolutely nothing wrong with that. The key is that one should always be using a moisturizer that works and feels good, no matter ...

5 STEPS TO BEAUTIFY YOUR SKIN  by

 Mana Robi
4/8/2008 at 12:38
Nature and life provide many extremes that directly affect the condition and aging of our skin. Everyday we are battered by the elements and after time, it begins to show.

Most of us take little steps here and there to care for our skin while some do nothing at all.

The condition and appearance of our skin can, and usually does, have an influence on the way we feel about ourselves in general: Self-Esteem. I know people, especially women, who hide a majority of their skin for many different reasons. All the while they dream of being able to wear a bikini to the beach or to be able to feel good about putting on a sexy outfit for their mate.

1) Wear Sunscreen:
Over long periods of exposure, the sun can have some very negative effects. Do not be fooled by a cloudy day! UV rays still make it through.

2) Wash daily:
I prefer facial soaps that are specific to exfoliation ( removing dead skin cells ) and a wash cloth or bathing sponge that is a bit on the rough side.

3) Moisturize:
Cold weather, wind and sunlight are just a couple of the things that can dry your skin. Have you ever seen someone with a great tan and spots of gray to go with it? Not so attractive!

4) Stress management:
Learning to not "stress-out" about the little things in life can have awesome long-term effects on the appearance of your skin. On the other hand, I’m sure we all know at least one person ...

 Howard L Haines
4/8/2008 at 12:37
Dry skin can cause an uncomfortable feeling and is usually unattractive, thus people with dry skin our looking for solutions to their problem. Dry skin is typically not a serious health problem, however it changes healthy skin cells into withered cells and often produces wrinkles. Some people have skin disorders categorized as ichtyosis which are severe dry skin conditions that are usually due to heredity.

Dry skin does not have the ability to hold moisture. People with extreme dry skin have cracking signs that are noticeable. People with dry skin might notice their condition becoming worse when exposed to wind, hot and cold weather conditions, a low humidity environment and air conditioning.

Treatment

For dry skin care doctors typically recommend using moisturizers which reduce the amount of moisture that escapes your skin by providing a seal. Thick moisturizers are preferred such as Cetaphil and Eucerin. It is also recommended to purchase cosmetic products that contain moisturizing substances. For those with extremely dry skin you might want to use oil on your skin such as baby oil and apply it while your skin is moist.

For dry skin care, experts recommend that you choose cleansing creams or mild skin cleansing products instead of using soap on your skin. If you want to use soaps you might want to consider selecting soaps such as Dove or Neutrogena which are milder than basic soaps. Deodorants can create problems for dry skin as well as anti-bacterial detergent products. When choosing dry skin care products try a variety of ...

CHILDHOOD PSORIASIS - WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW  by

 Antoinette Boulay
2/6/2008 at 04:48
Psoriasis is a widespread skin condition in which the skin develops areas that become thick and covered with silver-ish scales. A common problem in the United States, the prognosis of psoriasis varies widely, but in most, it is a chronic problem which continues for many years. The presence of psoriasis can cause emotional distress in most sufferers. Psoriasis, though believed by many to be a skin disorder is actually the result of a disordered immune system.

T-cells, a kind of white blood cell can become over-stimulated, they then tell the skin to heal a non-existent injury. Skin will react and grow very quickly, trying to grow the infection off of the skin. These areas then become the reddened and inflamed patches with white scale on them.

Typically, when children come down with psoriasis, it affects them not just physically, but emotionally as well. Psoriasis may influence how they see the world, their activities, and the people they choose as friends. Children may be worried about their psoriasis getting worse or recurring.

Some can show minimal emotional reaction while others act out with anger, embarrassed, or sad. Anxiety over rejection by peers is very common, especially as the child moves toward their teenage years. If a child’s skin is scalier than usual, especially on their elbows and knees they should go to a dermatologist to determine if they do in fact have psoriasis.

Psoriasis brings out a range of emotional responses, and coming to terms with having the disease may take some time. No one ...

EIGHT SIMPLE STEPS TO A FANTASTIC HOME FACIAL  by

 Janet Martin
2/6/2008 at 04:47
If you feel that your skin badly needs some deep cleansing and a little bit of reinvigorating, you can always have a facial. Actually, in order to maintain a supple, soft and youthful-looking face and neck, you need to undergo this treatment at least once a month, especially if you are over 30.

However, not many could afford a monthly trip to a salon, spa or dermatology clinic just to have their face prepped and cleaned. If you are one of these people who would want to have fabulous skin but do not want to pay a large sum for a facial treatment in a salon, spa or clinic, do not despair. You can actually have your treatment in the comforts of your own home.

Here is a step-by-step guide to an easy and effective home facial:

Step One: Cleanse

Any treatment that concerns the skin usually begins with getting off the grime, dirt and makeup on your skin. Thus, the first step to an effective facial is by applying a cleansing cream all over your face and neck. You must leave the product on your skin for at least two minutes to give it time to dissolve dirt, make up and oils. Then, just wipe your face with a clean cloth, cotton wool, or facial tissue.

Step Two: Exfoliate

To remove deep-seated dirt and dry skin cells, you need to moisten your skin with warm water and put on a facial scrub, particularly the ones with micro beads. Gently massage the product on your face. ...

BLEMISH-FREE SKIN FOR HIGH DEFINITION VIDEOS AND PICTURES  by

 Janet Martin
2/6/2008 at 04:47
Recent technological breakthroughs in making high definition televisions and digital and video cameras allow pictures and photos to become clearer, more vibrant and lifelike. Although we all appreciate the increasing sharpness and crispness of high definition, many are getting concerned that all their flaws and imperfections are now visible in home videos and digital albums. The fine lines, dark circles and large pores that did not matter before are now being caught in high definition birthday and wedding videos.

You are not alone. Even Hollywood A-listers and TV hunks and divas are scurrying to find ways that can hide their flaws from the unforgiving lenses of high definition. Good thing, there are great makeup artists who can conceal every blemish, skin problem and discoloration with just a wave of their brushes. If you want to have a perfectly smooth and wrinkle-free face in every video and photo, follow the tips below:

Contoured-to-perfection Cheekbones

Make up artists swear to the effectiveness of cream blush in achieving that natural looking contoured cheekbones. Furthermore, cream blushes are easier to apply and blend.

In order to achieve an illusion of contour, you have to apply the color to the apples of your cheeks. To help you determine the right position of the apples of your cheeks, you simply have to smile and put some blush, using circular motion, on the bumps on your cheeks. Afterwards, be sure to swipe the blush, following the outline of your cheekbones, up toward your ears.

Oil-slick-free Skin

A lot of people put a load ...

 Natasha Patnaik

We are born with great skin but with our bad eating habits and other factors we end up with not-so-good skin. The skin is the mirror of one’s health. It is seen that both men and women get worried about their skin very often. The last resort is visiting a beauty salon to get back their glow. Don’t you think, spending time and money in beauty salon is next to impossible in today’s packed schedule. So, here we are with a solution to all your queries- Microdermabrasion. It is a skin care routine that fits in well with your heavy work schedule. This is the main reason behind its popularity over the years’. It works using a very simple method- a machine is used to remove the dead cells of the upper layer of skin, clearing it up and renewing the skin.

Microdermabrasion is a cosmetic procedure that checks worsening of skin. Tips used in this process can be well used at your home. In this procedure, a facial exfoliation is followed by which the skin is sandblasted with aluminum-oxide crystal or some other skin friendly ingredient that helps removing the top layer of skin. The upper layer of your skin contains all the skin cells and by removing them by this process, you not only clear your complexion but you also help the growth of new cells that are to be produced rapidly. In short, it is a mini-facial peeling.

This method is one of the most known methods of reversing ...

SKIN TAG CAUSES  by

 Jane Nightingale
2/6/2008 at 04:45
Achrocordon or cutaneous papillom, or more commonly known as skin tags are the result of collagen and blood vessels being enclosed or trapped in pieces of thick skin. You will be happy to learn that they are a harmless condition with studies showing they pose no medical risk.

They can appear on most parts the body but the more common areas are under the armpits, on the face, on the eyelids, the neck, the groin and the chest. They usually range between 1.5mm and 5mm in diameter and are either flesh colored or will have a slightly darker pigmentation. They can also vary in shape and size and they either protrude from your skin or are they attached to your skin by a peduncle, which is a thin piece of skin.

The actual cause of skin tags is still not known. There are a number of theories and factors that may contribute to developing skin tags such as overactive hormones during pregnancy. This could be the reason why skin tags often appear during or after pregnancy. Insulin rejection is another theory, so is being overweight or it possibility being a genetic trait. What we do know is that although they can appear at any age, they generally appear as we get older.

Skin tags can cause itching and irritation, especially if the skin tag is in a place where it is likely to rub against another part of the body or against clothes. In these circumstances, the friction from rubbing against clothes or ...

5 BEAUTY TIPS FOR RADIANT GLOWING SKIN  by

 Barry Crewse
2/6/2008 at 04:44
Most of us are very self conscious about our skin. We often want our skin to look vibrant and healthy and we truly do need to do something to protect our skin from all the different things our environment throws at us. Our skin is the largest organ in our body and performs many different functions. It primarily protects us against the invasion from all the little foreign nasties that try and make our bodies their home. It also serves as the main transfer point for the release of toxic substances from our bodies. So you see how important it is to take the best care of our skin as possible.

Now, if you’ve found yourself coveting the gorgeous skin of fashion models and celebrities in most of latest kiss and tell magazines, here are some tips that will help you on your quest for beautiful skin.

Tip #1: Drink Plenty Of Clean Water

One of the easiest and simplest ways to clear and supple skin that is healthy and moisturized is to drink plenty of water. Water has long been considered as the most effective natural treatment for any skin condition because it is a PH balanced solvent. It prevents dehydration which is capable of producing sebum or oil from the sebaceous glands. Your skin needs water in order for it to function best, thus doctors and nutritionists recommend that a daily intake of approximately 6 to 8 glasses of water per day is the best treat for our skin.

Tip #2: Pay ...

SCULPTRA - RESTORING FACIAL FULLNESS  by

 Luke Lawreszuk
2/6/2008 at 04:44
Sculptra is a product used to restore facial fullness without surgery, injection of poisons like botox, or additions of collagen. It’s made of PLA or Poly-L-Lactive Acid and works by encouraging your own body to produce thicker collagen. The new collagen then fills in hollows and facial furrows that have developed over time.

Sculptra is injected into the face more than one time over several weeks. The injections are made with an anesthetic. Sculptra can be injected into the chin, temples, cheeks and beneath the eyes. There may be swelling at first, but it’s temporary and mild. Once the Sculptra has stimulated collagen plumping in your face, the results can last for up to 2 years.

The purpose of Sculptra is to offer a biodegradable product that’s effective at reversing the signs of aging in the face. It can also be used to correct small facial deformities such as flaws resulting in depressions or skin damaged by acne. Sculptra is made of small particles which are injected in various spots around the face. The particles are then adjusted so that the final result will be uniform. As collagen thickens, the face assumes new volume and sagging is significantly reduced.

Sculptra is sometimes used in conjunction with other facial volume building techniques. These include botox and Radiesse procedures. But it’s just as often used alone. It’s a particularly effective procedure for those people who have lost a lot of face volume due to weight loss. Loss of facial fat can make people look older ...
